Michael S. Jacobs, M.D.
Michael S. Jacobs, M.D., is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology as well as cataract and implant surgery.

He received his Doctorate of Medicine from the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Jacobs then completed an internship in general surgery followed by a residency in ophthalmology at the Medical University of South Carolina’s Storm Eye Institute.
While completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia, Dr. Jacobs was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Summa Cum Laude with highest honors. Dr. Jacobs is now a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology practicing in the Athens area with affiliations at St. Mary’s Hospital, Athens Regional Medical Center, and the Surgery Center of Athens, where he serves as Medical Director. Outside of work, Michael cherishes being a father and husband, trail running, reading in solitude, and grilling on his Weber kettle.
Scotty L. Gadlin , M.D.
Scotty L. Gadlin, M.D., is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Gadlin has been trained in the latest techniques in cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and surgery of the eyelids. He also specializes in treatment of Dry Eye Syndrome, Diabetes, and Macular Degeneration.

Dr. Gadlin graduated from the University of Georgia. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. Through outstanding performance in Medical School, Dr. Gadlin was awarded membership into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. After medical school, Dr. Gadlin remained at the Medical College of Georgia where he completed his internship in Internal Medicine and his residency in Ophthalmology.
Dr. Gadlin has a passion for teaching and educating both patients and medical professionals. He is Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the UGA/GRU medical partnership. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Georgia Society of Ophthalmology
Dr. Gadlin is excited to be back in Athens with his wife, Kassandra, newborn daughter, and their two dogs. When not at work treating patients, Dr. Gadlin enjoys woodworking, and is a member of the Athens Woodworking Club.
Eric M. Johnson, O.D.
Eric M. Johnson, O.D., specializes in general optometry for adults and children, contact lenses, and medical treatment of eye diseases. He also provides Low Vision Rehabilitation services. He is a Georgia native, born in Savannah, grew up in Calhoun, and is a graduate of the University of Georgia where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

Dr. Johnson then went on to complete his optometry degree at the New England College of Optometry where he was an honors graduate and Beta Sigma Kappa Honors Society member. His optometric experience included training through the contact lens clinic at Boston Medical Center, vision care for children with special needs at the Perkins School for the Blind, the Surgical/Ophthalmic Referral Center at the Omni Eye Institute in Atlanta, low vision rehabilitation at Jamaica Plain Veterans Hospital in Boston and multiple community health centers in the New England area.
Dr. Johnson also had three years of extensive training and employment under a renowned clinician and researcher in the New England Area focusing on treatment for dry eye disease. He is a member of the Georgia Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
Outside of practice he enjoys camping, cooking, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, and spending time with his wife Emily, son Elliot, daughter Norah, and their dog Ozzy.
